The Lansing Catholic Lawyers Guild is honored to announce that we will be celebrating the 33rd Annual Red Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Lansing on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 5:15pm. The Red Mass will be followed by dinner at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, adjacent to the Cathedral.
We are equally honored to announce that Judge Anthony Patti, a past recipient, and current State Bar of Michigan President Lawrence Nolan will introduce the annual recipient of the Guild’s prestigious St. Thomas More Award to State Bar of Michigan Past President Lori Buiteweg. Mrs. Buiteweg, a graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School, has been practicing law since 1991 and is a partner at the firm Nichols, Sacks, Slank, Sendelbach & Buiteweg. Lori is a staunch advocate for children’s rights and has shown exemplary work in improving the justice system and legal community in Michigan. The Lansing Catholic Lawyers Guild is proud to recognize Lori for her service to the Catholic Church and to the community.
The Guild will also introduce this year’s annual recipient of the Charles F. Filice – St. Ives of Tréguier Award, bestowed on a law student at one of Michigan’s fine legal institutes. The award is presented to a student who has demonstrated successful academic achievement, is active in the community, and possesses outstanding character and demonstrates concern for others through public service.
